The second Trump administration inaugurates a new presidency and a new era. A fews days ago, Serbian economist Branko Milanovic summed up this sentiment in a tweet: “November 9, 1989-January 2025”, the fall of the Berlin Wall and Trump’s indoor inauguration this week bookending the beginning and end of global neoliberalism. As usual, I observe these seismic events from the restive semi-periphery, where the future always happens first (I am currently back in Turkey). I thought I would draw up a list itemizing what I will be watching most closely in the Trump era to come. Each of these could easily be their own article, and they might be yet, but this is a preview of where my thoughts are at about the incoming administration and the world.
